Its up there with Lord of The Rings and The Godfather. All three movies in each one is a masterpiece.
A massive reason for that is the soundtrack - something that is sorely missing from movies and even sequels these days.
They do have music, but not soundtracks. More patches on a quilt than a tapestry.
Soundtracks that add to the movie, and can also stand on their own.
