The client
The other day I was watching a new series ‘Space Gen’. Got to know about it due to its viral vedio of its promotional event, how the chair was blocking the main poster. Reminding us how the low budget movies get promoted when compared to the huge budget films. Planned to see it just for the main lead actor and it being produced from TVF and also certainly due to its theam on Chandrayaan.
You can know how good the series is from its online reviews as I reckon in sameway. Loved the multiple cameo roles! But the thing which was disturbing ( dint get the right word) for me to see that one charector: a government official. He just want to see an Indain Satellite to be first ,not lagging behind the race to reach the moon from other countries. At one stage there is a scene where he asks the team to send the satellite without its main body due to weight issues, which after reaching would not do any findings on Moon. Not understand the technicalities and pressurising the ISRO team to work on chandrayaan.
Here I just felt similar to the place I work specially with “the government client”. Who do not follow any specified workflows. Do not do a thorough backflow of the new functionality that might impact the existing. I have not come across a task from them which does not come with urgency. They just need the problem to be solved that too at the earliest. Most of the time they dont approch the solution to be such that its negative impact would be less. They try to solve the problem for that very moment. Great that the ISRO team delivery exceptional work with less resources and same to the honest government employees who try hard to do their best while dealing with not so great boss, as they know that their work would directly impact the comman people.
Did you have any such experience with government officials?
You can watch the series on JioHotstar!

I still remember where I was on 23rd August 2023. Like millions of Indians (and space nerds worldwide), I had my eyes glued to my screen, heart thumping, waiting for those final moments of Chandrayaan-3’s descent. When it touched down safely on the Moon’s South Pole, I swear ther...
