Thoughts on writing

Writing forces reflection. That is what makes it difficult. The monkey brain is happy jumping from one thought to another. Writing forces the brain to focus. It does so more than any other form of creation.

I don’t know a lot of people to whom writing comes naturally. Thinking feels natural, so does talking. Writing doesn’t. You know the writing is good when you read something that feels simple, and natural. That is craft.

Words disappear when the writing is good. What you see instead, are ideas or better, images. When I hit the like button, I rarely do it for the words. I do it for the idea, and what it made me feel. In fact, if a writer uses difficult words and language, I feel like I am talking to a pompous douchebag in my living room. Yes, in my living room. Because writing is a very intimate medium. The writer is talking one on one with the reader.

Writing well is the single most valuable skill that will improve your life. From whatsapp messages, to emails, to chatgpt prompts, all of us are writing all day. Just imagine the compounding effects of doing it better than yesterday.

Well, writing forces reflection…

For me, writing and talking is kinda same. We think writing needs to be Tharoorified but whichever books I have finished easily is because I felt it’s like a conversation.

I think that is why your writing feels so natural.

Write

Remember the last time you nailed a post and felt happy? Remember reading the poignant story that moved you to tears?Good writing is powerful. It enriches — the reader and the writer.

Okay!

And I find it so fascinating, how these people will just say in a few words which would take me hour long conversations.

Engaging in a daily writing practice…

Engaging in a daily writing practice of at least 100 words requires a well-organized strategy to ensure consistency and stimulate creativity. Like some of us, should random topics prove ineffective, adopting a more focused and deliberate approach may be beneficial.

Reading Habit

My monkey brain is in overdrive when I am alone. I can’t read. I can’t write. I can’t watch an entire movie. I can’t code. Well this is all I can do when I can. There is not much else to me.
