TSP Player Profile - Jay Deshpande

Jay Deshpande (JD) is one of the most talented and humble member of TSP. He has been integral part of football at Amara from Day#1

Rather he has been playing Football on this very ground, even before Lodha Amara was built. The property was Clariant Factory earlier, and JD , with his Brother Yash, used to play at the SAME good with his childhood friends

How lucky is he that his parents bought a home near his home ground :)

Its normal that as young adults with almost no responsibilities on your head, one would spend a lot of time doing that one loves to. For JD it was making best use of Amara’s sports facilities. Playing football, swimming, carrom etc. So much that the kids call him “Sensei”. He is someone they relate more to, and hence listen to. They blindly trusted him and still take pride that JD has spent time training them.

But there are milestones in life, which lead to reducing time on the ground. Getting a job, getting married, having kids, turning 30+ etc.

At every step you see fewer and fewer people coming on the ground. And absolutely nothing wrong about it. After all if we are not playing professionally, there are many things in life which matter a lot more than just running behind a ball.

But those who make it to the ground, benefit a lot from it. In terms of physical and mental health. And of course the benefits good health has on professional and personal life. Since these benefits are obvious only in long term, very few are able to persist.

JD managed to cross the first hurdle very well. Our boy started working and still makes it to trainings and regular evening football.

He is amongst those few who are very sincere to turn up for training, and be available for matches.

Even in career, he hasn’t chosen an easy option, he is into Sales and that too for instrumentation equipment. More complex the product the deeper the sales people need to learn to be good at it. JD chose this. Just like how he does on the football field too.

Does not shy away from tough situations. Comes up with creative ways to dribble out of tough situations and makes game very easy for players around him.

His football free flowing and feels like music. Its so effortless, that we end up calling him a “gifted player”

And kudos to his sincerity, persistence, and hard work behind what he does to learn his skills. JD is part of a cult group called “Amara Gods” but more on this later. We have many folks to cover from this.

JD is also a wonderful team player. One of the most creative midfielder in the squad, but wont shy away from playing as Centre Back, or winger if the team needs him to. He doesn’t show it but I am sure its not easy for such a good player to be on the bench for the matches sometimes, but he takes that too in a good way. He knows what we are trying to do here is so much more than just playing football. A mature head over young body is a gift and he knows its value.

Absolute privilege to know JD and have him as part of TSP family.

He is still young and has lots to achieve in his life. He has everything in him to make us all proud in coming future. We wish him best and we ll continue to cheer for him success on and off the field too.

Beyond the field, JD is active on Twitter, a platform that values thoughtful, text-based content over fleeting entertainment.

His Instagram handle says 10 and Twitter says 9. I wonder why…… well no. No quirks on JD coz he is very important for us all. Gifted photographer and only guy with Canon camera amongst us. Helps so many of us capture good memories and flaunt on social media. We wish he continues with this thankless endeavor and we’ll do anything to protect his interest in clicking our good pics :)
