TSP Player Profile: Saurabh Pangtey (Puyol of TSP)

Saurabh Pangtey, affectionately known as the "3-Lunged Beast," is a cornerstone of the TSP and Lodha Amara football teams. Renowned for his exceptional fitness and speed, Pangtey is not only a formidable player on the field but also one of the most amiable individuals off it. His teammates and fans admire him for his skills, game sense, and leadership, particularly in orchestrating the defense.

Pangtey's superpower lies in his ability to elevate the performance of those around him. His presence instills a sense of confidence in his fellow defenders, often making them feel more capable than they usually are. This boost in morale is a testament to his unique leadership style, which combines a passive approach off the field with assertiveness during matches.

A self-critical player, Pangtey is known for his high standards and constant self-improvement. His vocal self-assessment, often heard as "marr jaa," reflects his relentless pursuit of excellence. Last season, his critical role in maintaining clean sheets was instrumental in securing TSP's Division 1 slot.

His aerial prowess during dead-ball situations makes him a lethal threat, frequently converting well-placed balls from midfielders like Damian into goals.

Balancing a career in banking with his passion for football, he exemplifies dedication both professionally and personally. His academic prowess is evident as he continues to pursue exams for career growth, all while managing his personal life and football commitments.

Pangtey's multifaceted persona extends beyond football. Known for his photogenic presence and love for travel, he shares glimpses of India's tourist spots on social media. His fashion sense, particularly his sneaker and jacket collections, inspires many young fans who look up to him.

A generous team player, Pangtey often contributes to team expenses, whether it's buying bananas for match days or covering team dinners, or purchasing TSP merchandises for his parents and friends back home at Nanital. I am sure he does coz they too take pride in the fact that their son is playing pro. And we as TSP too find it wonderful that there is a lovely couple all the way in Nanital who are wearing TSP jerseys with pride and flaunting how good their son is :)
