Love language!

On my way back from work on a rainy day, I tuned into a podcast by Jay Shetty. He was talking about how we all have different love languages, in which we either express our love or want to be loved. This caught my attention and suddenly the honking of horns, the sweeping sound of the windscreen wiper all went mute. Shetty went on, the five love languages are words of affirmation, acts of service, giving gifts, physical touch, or quality time. The list was quite fascinating, as I was hearing this for the very first time. Shetty continued, but none of the following Gyaan or the words caught my attention, as I was keen to understand my love language or may be my better half’s as well.

That night just before bed as I couldn’t take my mind off the subject, I asked P (husband) what his love language was? Perplexed, he made a face, after a few moments said, “Let me think about it.”

Next morning, meticulously he explained me what he thought about the concept and even ranked the five while sipping his morning tea. Though, I kind of resonated with all of them nothing felt natural. I let the thought go, picked my coffee mug, and marched to the kitchen and started my day.

Amidst the chopping of the veggies, the whistle of the cooker, and stealing taste of the poha before my family is put to test or taste, I was fully immersed in the process. And suddenly it dawned on me…FOOD…that’s my love language.

Preparing it, having it, trying it, all of it… Those who know me personally can vouch for it.

Although over the years my relationship with food has taken a curve, but on a path to set it right. As of now, there is sixth language just like the sixth sense, which attracts all the other five….

Love,

Mounika

Lately, the language politics in our country have been disturbing. But in the midst of it all, there are still people who live across states, languages, and cultures — happily and harmoniously.
