Piracy or Sharing?
2 distinct pieces of news concerning Universal Music Group suddenly showed up on my feed today.
Limp Bizkit’s fraud lawsuit rattles music industry: ‘These accusations are massive’
As a long time music fan and metal head, this makes me seethe.
Record companies have long defrauded artists and taken their earnings. The list is far too long, but here are 2 names - Jimi Hendrix and Lemmy Kilmister.
The fact that a middleman makes the money without contributing to the art makes my head spin.
And then they have the gall, the absolute udder to sue consumers, who just wanted to consume the art in the first place.
They are “incensed” when they lose profits due to piracy, when all the consumer is doing is trying to create a connection directly to the piece of art.
There is a reason piracy is making a comeback - and its not because the consumers don’t want to pay for the content.
They don’t want to pay for your fucking hubris <insert distributing company name>. Fuck right off you wankers.
