Social Media: Just consumption or Survival?

This has been a topic of my mind lately. I believe this might stem from the news consumption on the migrant crisis happening across the west (Europe + American continent).

Human has become hyper vigilant about the world and it’s incidents thanks to online aspect of social interactions. Wasn’t internet supposed to bring us together?

Is it me or everyone feels sees how it has now a become a instrument of mass disinformation? It’s scary, how the thing which was supposed to eliminate the distance b/w us is now being used to create the gap!

Actually, it’s not just social acceptance. It’s become a survival tactic!

Here are list of things that I feel have become problematic:
1. Over consumption of resources, information and extreme influence culture

  1. Developing polarity among people due to the mass misinformation

  2. Extreme consumerism

  3. Fast consumption mentality, who thought watching time-lapse videos of seeds turn in to plats will be so satisfying

Folks in power have figured out how to keep us distracted by offering us constant distraction through short format content which floods our mind with Dopamine. The mind starts feeling numb to even critic something. But, then we are more pissed and dissatisfied not knowing the huge hole in our hurt.

This hole is the reason that we never planted the seed or water it! Neither did we care for it. But, we did enjoy seeing it turn from seed to a full fledged plant. Never got our hands dirty.

Human make sense of their existence through solving a series of hard problems. Through building a stack of undeniable proof of their competence.

But every single time we experience the high of a win without even putting a sliver of effort, our mind rejects it! This rejection overtime makes it difficult for us to believe in ourselves.

Beliefs, Validation and Kindness
