SaaS engineer personas from a marketing pov:
1. The 'alpha' engineer: wants to experiment with the product just to critique it.
2. The 'beta' engineer: likes the product, and wants it, but does not control budgets.
3. The 'coaster' engineer: has the budget, but is not empowered to make decisions. Squats.
4. The 'I can do it myself' engineer: after the demo, will want to build the product themselves.
5. The 'visionary' engineer: understands that the product might mean a smaller team, and that does not bode well for future employment. Stalls.
6. The 'Thought Leader' Engineer: will try to 'fix' the product with wisdom from O'Reilly.
7. The 'saccharine' engineer: will use the demo version of the product in perpetuity, but can't make a decision about it.
8. The 'leader' engineer: Usually the CTO who is still figuring out the product.
9. The 'valley thinking' engineer: Will disappear after the demo, because substack needs attention.
