The Climb
This was a recommendation from a good friend - borne out of a dinner conversation and talking about the great outdoors and pushing yourself to your limits and beyond.
What the book describes is terrifying and awesome - something I would not want to be a part of. I have never understood the allure of climbing the Everest - maybe I am too mediocre and have never had any wish to push the envelope. Even for adrenaline junkies, this might be a bit much.
The images of dead bodies and oxygen cylinders lying discarded on the slopes of Everest has nipped forever in the bud any intentions in that direction.
Reading about it is thrilling and macabre enough - I choose to live vicariously through it. Not unlike my encounter with “Kitchen Confidential” by Anthony Bourdain.
Good, quick read - if you choose to do the same.

Have you ever read a book that feels less like a story and more like being invited into someone’s life-changing adventure? That’s exactly what happened to me with Vineeta Muni’s Across the Himalaya — First Women’s Traverse. This isn’t just a travel memoir. It’s an audacious testa...

There’s something deeply magnetic about the Indian jungle — its mysteries, its silences, and the primal thrill it awakens in us. I remember as a child, huddling under a blanket with a torch, reading jungle tales and imagining myself as the fearless explorer. So when I stumbled up...

I am too immersed in book today to think or observe things to write about for the ongoing series. It’s about cooking, women and the misogynistic view of the country they staying in, and how it affects them deeply. It’s supposedly a thriller, but the repetitive cooking and descrip...

Some books don’t just land on your shelf — they arrive at the exact moment you need them. For me, The Ikigai Journey was that book. I had heard of Ikigai before — the Japanese concept of finding your reason to wake up each morning — but it always felt abstract. When this beautifu...
