Writing - Motivation and Habit

Over the past year, while building thinkdeli, I have been surprised to learn this one thing about writing. Writing doesn’t happen. You have to make it happen.

A lot of us write journals. Some of us write poems and blogs. Some of us are bold enough to dream about writing novels. You are motivated in the beginning. But like most things in life, motivation takes you only so far. Life happens and you forget about writing.

thinkdeli, has some amazing features and they have helped me a lot. I find the writing streak especially useful. Once a streak starts building, I don’t want to break it.  Today is the sixth day I am writing!

There is also a cool heatmap that shows how many words you wrote on what day of the month for the past several months! It’s hidden here, in your preferences. 😅

There is one more thing that is fast becoming my favorite - the new auto focus feature. As you write, the noise around your screen just disappears! It really helps me stay in the zone.

This is just the beginning, and while software can help to a certain extent, I also want to look at the human element. I tweeted this a few days ago.

I want thinkdeli to become such a community of writers.

We have already started a Whatsapp Community for thinkdeli writers. You can join by clicking on the invite link here

We are trying one more thing. We are announcing No Break November. Write for 30 days, starting Nov 1st. We will keep a leaderboard that tracks the number of your posts over the 30 days. The writer with the highest number of posts will win! We will announce the details soon. Let me know what you guys think!

Write

Remember the last time you nailed a post and felt happy? Remember reading the poignant story that moved you to tears?Good writing is powerful. It enriches — the reader and the writer.

Engaging in a daily writing practice…

Engaging in a daily writing practice of at least 100 words requires a well-organized strategy to ensure consistency and stimulate creativity. Like some of us, should random topics prove ineffective, adopting a more focused and deliberate approach may be beneficial.
