Hiking thoughts
I am not physically fit and hiking is not my favorite activity.
But I do like being in the great outdoors and the perspective it hammers home is necessary every now and then.
As a consequence of me being out of shape, I have to take many stops along the way. The steeper the hike , so on and so forth.
But this problem opened up another door - I have more opportunities to take pictures. Turn back and look at the view as I catch my breath. Look at the leaves and trees and stones. Bugs and mushrooms. So many more layers to enjoying a trail or a national park. Nature's bounty.
So I take myself out of the race to complete a hike. Use the slower pace to enjoy the gifts of nature more and maybe even appreciate it in the process. Drawing a fresh breath and a great view to look at is a privilege. We aren't owed anything.
