Org communication tooling — Orchestrated chaos
We have abundant tools to ‘communicate better’ than ever before. Yet, the more tools we have, the worse our communication gets. In fact, we do an atrociously terrible job of it. Between Slack, WhatsApp, emails and calls, you have a roundtable of chaos that showcases a version of Fredkin’s paradox.
Communication tooling in an organization is orchestrated chaos. These seemingly simple choices create more ruckus than they help.
The sheer time slippage checking and communicating across these channels, across people in different geos reveals how average we are at it.
Orgs that don’t have a clear communication charter and channel guidelines tend to suffer over time. The problem is in accepting this entropy, and doing better to fix it. My guess: most won’t 😉
