TSP Player Profile: Sarvanan Arumugam - The Captain America of Amara Football

In the vibrant world of recreational football, where passion meets camaraderie, Sarvanan Arumugam, affectionately known as Sarva, stands as a beacon of inspiration and leadership. Much like Captain America, Sarva embodies the spirit of perseverance, integrity, and relentless dedication, both on and off the field.

Sarva's remarkable achievement lies not just in his football prowess but in his ability to galvanize a diverse group of recreational players into a cohesive unit that plays regularly on weekend mornings. This feat, akin to herding cats, is no small task, especially when the average age of the players is between 37 and 40. Yet, Sarva has managed to create a vibrant community, the Fabulous Lodha Amara (FAB LA), where football is as much about friendship as it is about the game itself.

A founding member of this morning football group, Sarva has faced his share of challenges. Last year, he endured a severe ankle injury, a setback that could have been the climax of a blockbuster Tamil movie. In true cinematic fashion, Sarva's resilience shone through as he forgave the circumstances and returned to the field, ensuring that the spirit of togetherness remained unbroken.

This season, Sarva plays for TSP, showcasing his skills as a formidable attacker. Known for his poaching abilities, he has an uncanny knack for being in the right place at the right time, orchestrating plays in front of the goal. Initially hesitant post-injury, Sarva has now regained his confidence, becoming more clinical in his finishing and adept at assisting his teammates.

At 45, Sarva's stamina is nothing short of extraordinary. His ability to sprint tirelessly for 90 minutes is a testament to his fitness and dedication, often leaving defenders struggling to keep up. His tireless energy and commitment to doing the right thing have earned him the moniker of Captain America.

Off the field, Sarva is equally impressive. Balancing a successful career at DHL with his football commitments, he is supported by his equally dynamic wife, who runs "Jovita’s Kitchen," famed for its delicious Idlis. If you haven’t tried delicious Idlis from “Jovita’s Kitchen” you dont even know what you are missing out in life. Sarva's life is a testament to the power of support and teamwork, both at home and on the field.

Despite his many talents, Sarva remains endearingly human. His visits to Chennai reveal a playful side, where he indulges in culinary delights with the enthusiasm of a young boy, only to return to the field with renewed vigor to shed the holiday weight :)  And while his fitness and game sense are commendable, his occasional misses during the FAB LA games add a touch of humor, prompting cheers of surprise when he scores.

Sarva is not just a player; he is a leader, a friend, and a testament to the joy of playing football, proving that age is just a number when passion fuels the game.
